Hot in the Shade is Harley’s 2021 Pride Month piece. This piece was a study of vintage gay-adjacent publications that sensationalized the male physique. Combined with Harley’s doll like figures this piece merges vintage ad-work with the contemporary expression of the masculine and feminine.

The tattoos that adorn this figure are all American traditional tattoos that Harley has illustrated himself. A few of them being actual tattoos that Harley has gotten himself, further imbedding a piece of him in his artwork.
